TROMA president Lloyd Kaufman, the starry-eyed genius behind
such sentimental favorites as The Toxic
Avenger and Terror Firmer,
says, "As part of Troma's Silver Anniversary (not to be confused
with the highly unromantic Joel Silver Anniversary), we are
presenting Cannes with the most precious gift of all: LOVE.
Our love will cover Cannes like a warm blanket. Believe
me, you won't be able to walk two feet in this town without
stepping in Troma's love."*

When not dodging Troma's projectile loving, festival attendees
will have their heart strings plucked by
the long-awaited return of the Toxic Avenger. The Troma
Team will share selected world premiere scenes and exclusive
behind-the-scenes footage from Troma's work-in-progress, Citizen
Toxie: The Toxic Avenger Part 4. The first Toxic Avenger
film in over a decade, Toxie's return to action is directed
by his creator Lloyd Kaufman. "Citizen Toxie draws inspiration
from all the great romantic poets," Kaufman explains. "The head-crushings
from Shakespeare, the cornholing we know and love from Elizabeth
Barrett Browning, and the dismemberment that formed Shelley's
signature style are all combined in one magnificent epic...
in other words, Citizen Toxie is
a shot by shot exact replication of Orson Welles' towering classic,
Citizen Kane."

The Citizen Toxie scenes are
just one of a series of three very special,
invitation-only, love-fest cocktail parties hosted by Troma
in their Carlton Hotel suites #264 and 265, which will be transformed
for the festival into the Troma Love Chapel. These private
screenings will be open to buyers on a first come-first serve
basis and include a compilation of The
Best of TromaDance. These short films, all part of Troma's
annual independent film festival held in Park City in January,
comprise a broad spectrum of cherished moments, from the heartsick
longing of Cyrus Helf's Zitlover
to the close-knit family of Gabe Friedman's The
Teeth That Bind. Also screening is the romantic epic
Unspeakable, directed by Chad Ferrin.
Also at this screening, a trailer for Troma's international
co-production Parts of the Family,
a film as romantic as Dr. Zhivago but with all the zombies David
Lean was forced to cut out, will make its debut.

Note: In Tromaville, "love" is another term for "drunken
puke".
