(Cannes) May 18, 2000 -
Fifteen years after he first appeared, Troma's most beloved
super-mutant, The Toxic Avenger, will once again spread radioactive
love across the silver screen in Citizen Toxie: The Toxic
Avenger Part IV. The Troma Team is proud to present selected
world premiere scenes and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage
from this work-in-progress at a special private screening during
the Cannes Film Festival. This is the last of three very special,
invitation-only, love-fest cocktail parties hosted by Troma
in their luxurious Love Chapel, located in suites #264 and 265
of the Carlton Hotel.
The first Toxic Avenger film in over a decade,
Toxie's return to action is directed by his creator Lloyd Kaufman.
Worlds collide when the Toxic Avenger switches places with his
evil self, the Noxious Offender. While Noxie rampages through
Tromaville, Toxie is trapped in Amortville, battling evil versions
of Sgt. Kabukiman NYPD and other Tromaville citizens. Citizen
Toxie also introduces a brand new roster of superhuman characters,
including Dolphin Man and Mad Cowboy. "In other words," explains
Kaufman, "Citizen Toxie is an exact, shot-by-shot remake of
Orson Welles' towering classic Citizen Kane."
Admittance to this private screening is on
a first-come, first-serve basis. Those in attendance will also
receive the highly sought-after Troma Love Pack, containing
either a collectible limited edition Cannes Film Festival variant
of Troma's brand-new comic book The New Adventures of the Toxic
Avenger or "Hard-On For Tromaville", a 3-CD compilation of independent
rock and punk bands from around the world created by AMP Records
and Tromaville.com.
