-With his war cry of "Give independent film back to the people,"
Lloyd Kaufman, founder/director of TromaDance, has announced
that the Troma Team is now accepting submissions for next year's
Park City festival: TromaDance 2001. The announcement comes
on the heels of yesterday's highly successful Best of TromaDance
cocktail party.
The TromaDance Film Festival features a range
of films made independently without big stars, big money and
far removed from the Hollywood studio system. The selected films
will be made with nothing more than passion, courage, integrity,
and raw talent. As was the case last year, there is no charge
to filmmakers to submit their films. There are no entry fees,
handling charges, or admittance expenses of any kind.
To aid the TromaDance cause, Troma will be generously
donating the Utah premiere of Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger
Part IV to TromaDance 2001. This film has particular significance
given that The Toxic Avenger is one of the crown jewels of independent
cinema.
TromaDance is an opportunity for everyone who's
ever picked up a camera to have their work seen without the
compromises required by corporate interference. Submissions
for TromaDance should be sent on VHS format to:
TROMADANCE ENTRIES
The Troma Building
733 Ninth Avenue New York, NY 10010
Submissions will be accepted until December 31, 2000.
TromaDance 2001 will be a one-day, day-long festival taking
place in Park City, UT, on January 24, 2001. For more information,
