Troma
and Kodak (as part of their commitment to being an eco-friendly
company) are sponsoring a recycling program at Cannes.
With the Toxic Avenger as
their masthead, Troma and
Kodak are setting up bins in an effort to recycle something
in Cannes other than the
shitty Hollywood movies that have plagued the festival in recent
years.
The
Toxic Avenger has always been an environmental icon.
His creator, Lloyd Kaufman,
was inspired by the environmental movement of the early eighties
when he wrote the screenplay. People identified with the hero,
a man deformed by Toxic Waste,
and they have always come to associate the film with its implicit
environmental message.
Troma
can think of no more appropriate an image to promote recycling
and the preservation of nature. We here in
Tromaville are committed to keeping the filth of
the world off the streets and confined to a theater
near you!
