“CITIZEN TOXIE: THE TOXIC AVENGER IV” THEATRICAL AND FESTIVAL SUCCESS!! TROMA’S BIGGEST AND MOST SUCCESSFUL FILM TO DATE RETURNS TO CANNES BY POPULAR DEMAND! Cannes, May 21st- Today, Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger 4 returns to the French Riviera after a hugely successful USA Theatrical Run to sold out audiences and rave reviews. Citizen Toxie has screened in most major US markets, (New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, Baltimore, Oregon, Orlando, Washington, San Diego, Cleveland, Austin, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh) and is currently still running in US Theaters! Citizen Toxie also has great theatrical success in Canada, in such markets as Toronto, Calgary, and Montreal. By the end of Citizen Toxie’s theatrical run, it is expected to have screened in well over 300 theaters. On top of theatrical release, Citizen Toxie has screened as an official selection of over 15 film festivals worldwide, including such exotic locations as Sitges and San Sebastian (Spain), Brussels (Belgium), Tokyo (Japan), Amsterdam (Holland), Avignon (France), Puchon (Korea), Fantasia (Montreal), FantaFestival (Italy), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and Deliria (Switzerland). Troma Team Video is currently preparing the film for release on VHS and DVD. Early reports state that the DVD of Citizen Toxie will weigh in at a whopping THREE DISCS! Brian McNulty, head of Troma DVD Production was quoted as saying, “The Citizen Toxie DVD will be the biggest and best DVD release in the history of DVD production. The only DVD that could even come close is Tim Burton’s re-make of Planet of the Apes, but that movie sucked, so it does not count.” Troma’s most ambitious film to date, Citizen Toxie was directed by Lloyd Kaufman, the creator of the Toxic Avenger who has been described by Sam Grogg, dean of AFI’s Center for Advanced Film and TV Studies, as “one of the true, great auteurs”.
