Tromanale 2005
Tromanale #1
February 10-20 2005
Film competition deadline: January 31, 2005
Currently open for submission!

Tromanale is the Berlin film festival dedicated to bringing back art to the people. Set to run during Germany's well known Berlinale (the Berlin Film Festival), and based in Berlin Mitte's high-tech arts space, C-base, Tromanale aims to provide a place to celebrate real independent cinema, free from the exclusive pomposity of more mainstream festivals.

INSPIRATION!
Inspired by Troma, the USA's oldest truly independent film company and the wildly popular American Tromadance festival, Tromanale is a film festival truly devoted to independent films, filmmakers and fans. The competition is open to one and all and free to enter: at Tromanale, we want to get those masterpieces off their hard-drives and on to our screens. All the films that get through the selection process will be shown in the festival, totally free of charge to the punter: no guest list, no press passes! There will be various prizes, with the top award being given by the audience themselves - that's right, our award ceremony may well be the first crony free environment in the history of European film festivals!

ACTION!
Tromanale is about truly independent artistic spirit and the festival will celebrate this with diverse events, not just film or film-related. At C-Base and around the city, there will be music, performances, talks, presentations, exhibitions, parades and no doubt plenty of spontaneous happenings! For the word on the street, keep your eyes peeled for our Tromanale Fanzine, available soon and of course, don't forget to keep checking the website.

TROMANALE 2005 … and beyond!
Berlin has long been known as an international centre of art and as the birthplace of modern cinema. The young, international arts community based in Berlin are global trend-setters and here at Tromanale, we intend to provide the kind of alternative film festival that they have been crying out for, for many years to come.
